Steve Luebber
"No Hitter/Perfect for 8 2/3"

I sent a request to Steve Luebber asking him to tell the story on a baseball about what he remembered from when he threw 8 2/3 perfect innings and this is what I got:

"Important game for Twins that year trying to stay in the division race. Rod Carew made the big defensive play down 1st base line to keep No No in tact! [sic]"

History records that Luebber had a no hitter going for 8 2/3 inning. With 2 outs in the 9th inning, Luebber gave up two singles and was replaced by Bill Campbell who struckout the batter for the final out.
