I sent a request to Handsome Ransom Jackson asking him to tell the story on a baseball about hitting the final home run in Brooklyn Dodger history and this is what I got:

"It was hit on 9/28/57. It was hit in the 7th inning and didn't mean much to the game."
"I never realized it was the last HR until 30 years later my son called me..."
"... from Columbus GA at 8:00 to tell me that I has on "Good Morning America". That was the question"
"They came back in 5 minutes to say that it was Ransom Jackson. I did not know until then."
